Proxy's Board of Directors 

Scott Leonard


A trailblazer of the international fair trade movement, Scott Leonard is CEO and Founder of Indigenous Designs, a leading provider of fair trade and sustainable fashion. Indigenous Designs provides high quality men's and women's fashions and is fueled by by an ethical supply chain that employs thousands of artisans in remote and impoverished regions of the world. 

Scott was responsible for spearheading and actualizing a revolutionary production financing model for Indigenous fair trade knitting cooperatives through Root Capital and Finance for Communities and Conservation in Cambridge,MA. Scott has helped nurture these artisan groups into enterprises that are an intact and beneficial models of community fair trade. They use natural dyes and organic fibers, offer training opportunities for artisans to improve their skills and understanding of quality control measures, and support organizations that enhance community development activities. Scott has been an avid supporter of Proxy for the past year and offers great support in the areas of business strategy, and product and supply chain development. 


Ted Sattler


Ted Sattler is the Corporate Group Executive Vice President for Foreign Operations at the Phillips-Van Heusen company who's brand portfolio includes companies such as Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein, Van Heusen, IZOD, ARROW, G.H. Bass & Co., Bass and Eagle, and the company most recently acquired Tommy Hilfiger. Ted has worked with PVH for 25 years in numerous management positions in merchandising, sourcing, and supply chain. Between 1970 and 1985 prior to joining PVH, Ted held numerous management positions at Burlington Industries which he joined after serving in Vietnam as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during 1967 - 1969. 

Ted has served as the President of the board of the Young Men's  Association, as well as on the Cotton Board of the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Textiles/Clothing and the USA ITA Board of Directors. Ted recently joined Proxy's board and is advising and offering immense support in the areas of sourcing and production. 


Katie Schuller-Bleakie


Prior to receiving her MBA from Simmons Graduate School of Management, Boston, Massachusetts, Katie owned an Advertising Agency, ran multiple non-profit events and served on non-profit boards. For twenty years she was a co-manager of Fish Investments, LLC, Houston, Texas, where she managed a multi million dollar stock portfolio and oversaw, oil and gas projects, real estate partnerships, and other investment interests. Simultaneously, she worked for several privately owned Fashion companies, recruiting and building sales forces, overseeing operations and manufacturing, and finally in 2005 with partners she founded Bill Blass New York.  Bill Blass New York owned the bridge line license for Bill Blass Couture. Bill Blass New York designed, manufactured and sold their product across the United States thru a network of private sales people with over 300 sellers nationwide.

She currently, works with the only all women venture capital group in the United States, Golden Seeds and serves on the Entrepreneurial Outreach Committee at Simmons Graduate School of Management, is a Life Overseer at the New England Conservatory of Music, and is Co-Chairing the annual event for The Emerald Necklace Conservancy which raises over $500,000 in one day to benefit the Park System of great Boston, Massachusetts. Katie provides support to Proxy in the areas of business and product development, and has served as an advisor since the business plan stage.


Bruce L’Orange


With a decade of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur in Japan, Bruce specializes in international marketing and retail with a focus on fashion, consumer products, and niche lifestyle outreach. In addition to building Italian fashion label MIO Milano into a successful luxury brand, Bruce has run business development and overseen marketing initiatives for the alternative marketing agency Street Attack, whose clients include brans such as: Sephora, Nike, McGregor, Fredricks of Hollywood, Esquire, Microsoft, and Miller Brewing Company. In addition to these posts, Bruce has worked in Japanese government as a translator, speech writer, and international liaison, as a Business Development and Sales Manager for Panasonic, a radio DJ and television shopping program host, and a marketing consultant for fashion and style companies such as Handbago, Royal/T, John Tracy Designs, and ArmRevolution. 

Currently Bruce serves as a Assistant General Manager for LVMH group retailer, DFS in Okinawa, Japan and is a member of the advisory board for American Leather Goods House and Andrea Valentini. With a strong background in sales and marketing, operations management, and international business, Bruce looks to play an integral part in advising Proxy on alternative marketing strategies, establishing and managing brand partnerships and operational best practices. 


Sharon Halter


Sharon is an international general management executive with over twenty-five years of experience leading the strategic restructuring and sustained profitable growth of global enterprises. In 2008 she founded Crossroads Management Holdings, Inc. for purposes of acquiring and operating selected franchise businesses in New England. Prior to forming Crossroads, Sharon held multiple management positions including Division President for Thermo Fisher Scientific, Vice President-Operations for NUR America, Chief Operating Officer at Holtrachem Inc., and Vice-President for Polyfibron Technologies, which included a three-year GM assignment in France. She has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. She was a founding member of the CEO Management Group and the International Executive Resource Group - Boston Chapter. Sharon has worked with Proxy since its inception and provides weekly feedback and support in the areas of strategy, operations, and production.
